There were 47 attendees and 7 vendors present at the NJAST Fall Symposium held on September 27th in Tom's River, NJ. It has been reported that the lectures were informative, timely and well received, that everything ran smoothly. The sweatshirts were well received, and most everyone stayed awake!

Assembly Bill A2521 was introduced May 5, 2008 by Assemblyman Thomas P. Griblin of District 34 (Essex and Passaic).
This bill currently in the NJ legislature affects sleep centers licensed as ambulatory care facilities. This does not apply to an ambulatory care facility that is
licensed to a hospital in NJ as an off-site ambulatory care service facility.
STATEMENT (from the bill)
This bill increases the ambulatory care gross receipts assessment that applies to certain ambulatory care facilities, beginning in Fiscal Year 2009 (effective July 1, 2008).
The bill increases the assessment from 3.5% to 7.0% of gross receipts and increases the maximum payment from $200,000 to $400,000 per year for facilities subject to
the assessment whose annual gross receipts are $300,000 or more. The assessment on gross receipts of certain ambulatory care facilities was enacted in 2004 and applies to
ambulatory care facilities that are licensed to provide one or more of the following ambulatory care services: ambulatory surgery, computerized axial tomography, comprehensive
outpatient rehabilitation, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, magnetic resonance imaging, megavoltage radiation oncology, positron emission tomography, orthotripsy and sleep
disorder services. The monies raised by the assessment are deposited in the Health Care Subsidy Fund to help fund hospital charity care subsidies.
